ARC Literacy Planning: DPS Enhanced Lessons (ELA-E)
Limited Capacity seats available

Ensuring that all students have the opportunity to read complex texts, engage in grade appropriate tasks, and to own the thinking can help accelerate their learning to close the opportunity gap. In this session, we will unpack the NEW DPS Enhanced curriculum for summer academy to identify and implement best practices for supporting our struggling readers and ELs. Participants will see part of a lesson in action, and be able to plan for their first week for core instruction.

Providing targeted intervention can accelerate students’ literacy growth. In this session, teachers will practice administering and scoring the IRLA/ ENIL assessment to determine students’ independent reading level to be able to provide targeted intervention using the Foundational Skills Toolkit (FSTK). We will gather deeper knowledge about the Foundational Skills Toolkit, as we unpack the foundational skills taught and learn about the structure of the lessons. We will also plan for meaningful students workstations while students are being pulled for intervention.
