This session will help teachers develop understanding of what makes Dedicated ELD instruction distinct from content-area instruction, most notably in the following 5 areas (PERMS): Portability, Explicit Language Instruction, Rigor, Metalinguistic Awareness, and 50% Student Talk. Teachers will be able to see what effective execution of each element looks like in order to plan for successful implementation of the Summer Academy ELD curriculum. Teachers will also be provided with the opportunity to practice administering the NEW Oral Language Assessment that will be used in Summer Academy.
